PROGRAMS AND EVENTS : FILM & DISCUSSION SERIES

FILM & DISCUSSION SERIES

2025 Events will be held on the last Monday of each month -- January through April -- at the Woodstock Jewish Congregation.

JANUARY

What can you do to help our vulnerable food system while improving your own health? Check out the action steps we shared at the event here.
The website with the action steps can be accessed here.

FEBRUARY

Two important reminders for Feb. 24: (1) There will not be a Zoom option for this event. We will all be gathering together. (2) Please bring paper and a pen or pencil.

MARCH

"Microplastic Madness" is the story of 5th graders from Red Hook, Brooklyn -- living on the frontline of the climate crisis -- whose actions while learning about plastic pollution morph into extraordinary leadership and scalable victories.

With stop-motion animation, heartfelt kid commentary and interviews of experts and renowned scientists who are engaged in the most cutting edge research on the harmful effects of microplastics, this alarming yet charming narrative conveys an urgent message in user-friendly terms.

Please register here if you need to join virtually. No registration needed if you are joining us in person at the Woodstock Jewish Congregation.

APRIL

It may sound incongruent to find joy in climate action these days, but Dr. Ayana Elizabeth Johnson believes each of us can do just that. Join us for a viewing of a panel discussion with Dr. Johnson, professor and author of “What If We Get It Right?”; Bill McKibben, founder of Third Act and noted environmentalist; and Earthjustice President Abigail Dillen.

A discussion with leaders of Third Act groups working in New York will follow. Bring a pen or a pencil because you will be leaving with your own climate action plan. We promise an evening of joy as we focus on action!

The Golden Notebook will also be on site selling copies of Dr. Johnson's bestselling work about visions of a future where we get climate climate right.

Please register here if you need to join virtually. No registration needed if you are joining us in person at the Woodstock Jewish Congregation.
